How Guardians Can Apply for a Child's Support

We receive many questions about how to apply for a child's support at Sondhar. This letter is our attempt to answer those questions clearly and honestly.

Who Can Apply

Applications may be submitted by parents, surviving guardians, relatives, village representatives, teachers, or community members who know the child's situation.

We especially consider applications for:

  • Orphaned children
  • Children with a single parent who is unable to provide stable education and care
  • Children from severely underprivileged households
  • Children without safe, consistent access to schooling

What Sondhar Provides

Children who are selected receive free boarding, meals, daily care, school support, tutoring, clothing, health checkups, and family-like attention. There is no fee of any kind.

We do not guarantee outcomes beyond our honest best — but we commit to knowing every child personally and standing beside them for as long as they need.

How the Process Works

Step 1: Submit Basic Details Share the child's name, age, village, family situation, and your contact details through our application form or by reaching out directly via WhatsApp or email.

Step 2: Initial Conversation We will speak with the guardian or family reference to understand the child's background, current situation, and needs.

Step 3: Document Review We may ask for basic documents — such as the child's ID, guardian's ID, and any available school records. If documents are not available, please let us know. We will try to work with what exists.

Step 4: Visit or Verification Where possible, our team may visit or seek local verification from a known reference in the village.

Step 5: Selection and Welcome Selected children are welcomed gradually — with time to adjust, meet the other children, and settle in at their own pace.

A Note on Expectations

Submitting an application does not guarantee selection. Every case is reviewed carefully, with fairness and respect. We are limited by our current capacity, and prioritise children in the most vulnerable situations.

If a child is not selected immediately, we will explain why and discuss what alternatives or next steps may be possible.

How to Reach Us

You can submit an application through the form on our website, or write to us directly at contact@sondhar.org or via WhatsApp. We read every message personally.

We look forward to hearing from you. The Sondhar Trust Team
